5/5/2023 0 Comments Waves nx plugin![]() So just comparing stereo source and converting that to a stereo studio space, this compares VERY favorably to DearVR Monitor at first glance. I use it right now for my Dolby Atmos binaural mon/mixdown since I'm on PC working in Nuendo 11 which lacks official Atmos binaural support. And of course DearVR Monitor does more things than this Ocean Way plugin. Has somebody compared it with DearVR Monitor?Yes, I have. I would take this plug plus a pair of sennheisers over low-end monitors any day. Between VSX and now this plug-in, we have better monitoring options for people that are on-the-go or don't have the capital (or the space) to accurately create a acoustical monitoring environment. Another issue with headphones is they tend to emphasizes the 2KHz range. Good monitors with good acoustics is just better.īut with that said, if you are working with just headphones, having an actual center image is important. Oh well, to each their own.I fully agree with you. MAYBE if one was using cheap headphones, but in that case, investing the money into better headphones seems like it would always be a better decision rather than investing in phase shift/IR/eq tech (which I’m assuming is something like what is being used here) to change the result of ones’ listening environment. I like to keep an open mind about all kinds of users and product uses, but I just can’t understand the point of this kind of tech. Nx Ocean Way Nashville is a 3D spatial audio plugin, modeled on Ocean Way Nashville’s perfectly tuned control rooms. The Nx Ocean Way Nashville combines the control room’s perfect acoustic environment with the Ocean Way Audio HR1 and HR5 monitors, custom-made to work perfectly together. This a breakthrough in spatial audio technology, we give you the perfect monitoring environment, inside your headphones – any set of headphones. To create stellar mixes, you need a stellar mixing / monitoring environment.Ocean Way Nashville is one of the world’s premier recording studios, where artists from Beck, Willie Nelson, Sheryl Crow to Faith Hill, Paul Simon and the Black Keys have made their music.Ĭlosely supervised and approved by Ocean Way’s founder, Allen Sides, this is the third in the line of Waves Nx plugins (after the original Nx Virtual Mix Room, and the Waves Abbey Road Studio 3 plugin). Powered by Waves Nx spatial audio technology, this state-of-the-art processor models Ocean Way Nashville’s control room acoustics, including the studio’s renown custom Ocean Way Audio monitors. The goal of Waves Nx: Ocean Way Nashville is to provide a great “virtual” reference environment, and to help engineers and producers mix reliably on headphones, in a way that will translate well to real-world acoustics and speakers. I don't work for waves, just wanna hear what other people other than myself have to say.Check Your Mixes In The Perfect Monitoring Environment Though it CANNOT and WILL NOT EVER be a substitute for quality monitors, do you think it's at least doing a good job at trying to bridge the gap? Head to the Waves site and try this plugin out for 14-days and comment below what you guys thing of it overall. ![]() ![]() So in my opinion its worth a buy, but I'd wait for the blue-tooth dongle to be released to be able to take full advantage of this plugin. ![]() It performs well, and is probably as close as us producers, without high-end equipment, can get to a mixing room without having to blow the bank.įor $49 it's not a bad deal. It works well in all respects, does what it says it should, nothing mind blowing, and though it does seem a little bit gimmicky, if you're a bedroom producer and don't have 1) Really good room lighting or 2) $150 to pay for an add-on component, then don't get this plugin. ![]() I just bought Waves' new Nx plugin which simulates a virtual mixing environment. ![]()
